Sustainable Sargassum Management
Sargassum is one of the most visible and damaging coastal challenges facing Belize today. When handled improperly—dumped in empty lots, buried on beaches, or left to decompose—sargassum can contaminate soil and groundwater, degrade air quality, and cause long-term harm to surrounding communities.
Coastal Green Horizon addresses this problem at the system level. We responsibly collect sargassum before it decomposes and redirect it into controlled reuse pathways—transforming a harmful waste stream into materials and opportunities that support environmental health, education, and local employment.
